Bhubaneswar, in Odisha, is home to ancient stone temples representing over 2,000 years of heritage from the 3rd century BC to the 15th century AD. It is one of the only cities with such an ancient continuous architectural and historical heritage. This heritage has earned it the name "Temple City of India." The old city’s holy center is a ceremonial tank called Bindu Sagar. Thousands of medieval stone temples once stood here; around 50 currently remain.
