Since long time ago, Iranian people have always celebrated "YALDA", the longest night of the year, December 21, as the birthday of "Mitra" (the light symbol). From this night on, days become longer. At this night, people try to spend the night with family and friends and drink tea and have fruits such as watermelon and pomegranate. They also tell stories and read poems.
