Since 1998 I have worked as a graphic designer at various advertising agencies. In 2009 I decided to start my own company; “Illustration and Such”, (Illustratie en Zo) because I wanted to illustrate more.
Through my own company I have found the most ideal balance to earn my living in a creative way and still enjoy my family life to the fullest. I get my inspiration through my kids, pets and also out of nature.
Due to my autism I am often overwhelmed by details. To survive in our busy real world, I often escape in my own world of drawing. And in my way of working, my noticing of details becomes my strength.
My artwork for the contest ‘The Great Outdoors’ is the perfect example of that. Because of all the details it invites the viewer to look at it for a long time. Every time viewing the image some other little joke jumps in view!
