For me, a landscape is about the plants and animals that call it home. This piece depicts a typical scene in the Northern California landscape where I've spent most of my life, with rolling hills and oaks, populated with the native plants, birds (a Bewick's wren, Steller's jay, and brown creeper) and critters (an alligator lizard, California sister butterfly, and California oak moth) that live in the oak habitat. I used a combination of hand-painting and digital painting.
