Kitchen Art

I painted "Flourish" in watercolor & ink on 140lb cold-press watercolor paper. "Flourish" is a tulip with filigree embroidered on its petals and leaves, backlit by colorful lights.

The kitchen as an essential place for nourishment and growth, and I'm expressing the idea with this painting. My kitchen has black countertops, a gray wall, and white cupboards, so this painting stands out. It makes the kitchen visually nourishing, too. And yes, having fresh flowers in the kitchen is wonderful but not always possible, because for example: tulips are only in season in the Spring, and flowers die eventually. Hanging this painting on the wall adds a pop of color year-round. It frees countertop space for cooking and for visiting friends to set their wine glasses while friendships flourish.
