I invited ants to the picnic. In my defense, they’re very cute ants and I’m kind of rooting for them. This was one big illustration that I split in two. When I’m outside, I expect to share the space with bugs even if it means ants at my picnic. I wasn’t so keen on bugs as a kid. As a mom and gardener, I have leaned into bugs in my life and illustration work to face that fear and help my boys see bugs in a new light.
